Paul Alfrey brings a tremendous amount of both public and private sector experience to this election. Paul is currently President of several local family businesses which include Alfrey Roofing, American Standard Insurance Group and Humpty Dumpster. Paul and his brothers started each company from scratch and grew them through hard work, dedication and a commitment to customer service. Paul was a recipient of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2004 Better Business Council Award and several awards from the Hometown News in 2012 and in 2015. Paul's family also received a Melbourne Chamber award in 1988!
Proud Military Service - Paul Alfrey served in the United States Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer and law enforcement officer on Brevard's own USCGC Confidence and at Station Miami Beach. During this period, he was also assigned to a Port Security Unit that served in Haiti during Operation Uphold Democracy. Paul received numerous medals and commendations including a pair of Humanitarian medals, the Armed Forces Expeditonary medal and the Department of Transportation's Gold Award for Outstanding Achievement. He followed family members who served our country in the armed forces. For example, Paul Sr. served in the US Army Infantry during the Vietnam war, and his great-uncle, Jack Hammersley is a Bronze Star recipient from World War II.
Dedicated Public Service - Paul served our Melbourne community as a Canine officer, Street Crimes Unit officer and Field Training officer. Paul received many accolades and awards, including "Officer of the Month" several times. In 2010 Paul and his police canine, Faro (pictured below), was credited with apprehending 100 criminal suspects, a rare milestone. Paul excelled at community policing and continues those efforts today as a volunteer coach for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Basketball Team - The Enforcers. This dynamic group of public safety professionals volunteer their time to reach our community's youth through in-school basketball games, community events and local Police Athletic League programs. This team raises money annually for anti-bullying campaigns and project graduation programs. The Enforcers are recipients of a 2014 Humanitarian of the Year Award and received special Congressional recognition from U.S. Congressman Bill Posey. See leadership page for more information.
